Socorro Independent School District (SISD) – is a fast-growing urban school district in the state of Texas covering 135 square miles in East El Paso, El Paso County, the City of Socorro and Horizon City. SISD serves more than 46,500 students with innovative instruction in state-of-the art facilities. SISD is an outstanding educational institution having earned TEA Met Standard status for the district as a whole and for all rated campuses, and SISD schools earning 144 Distinction Designations in the 2017 TEA accountability ratings. For the fourth consecutive year, SISD students surpassed the state passing rate in all STAAR exams for grades three through eight in spring 2017.

The district has earned numerous accolades for outstanding instruction and leadership, including Superintendent Dr. José Espinoza earning the national 2017 Escalante-Gradillas Prize for Best in Education, the 2017 Best Communities for Music Education Award, the 2017 Consortium for School Networking Team Achievement Award. In addition, Team SISD was a two-time finalist for the prestigious HEB Excellence in Education award, the SISD Board of Trustees was a two-time Region 19 Board of the Year and a top five Texas Honor Board, and Dr. Espinoza earned the 2016 Region 19 Superintendent of the Year award.

The district is dedicated to offering the best education in all 48 of its campuses focusing on student achievement and providing endless opportunities for all students. SISD educators are highly qualified and work to ensure all students have the best resources and instruction to succeed. The district operates on a year-round calendar from July to May with a fall and spring intersession.
